If you are a full on fitness fanatic or just an occasional participant it is important that you feel comfortable doing what you are doing. In the same way that a fitness trainer will emphasize the importance of an appropriate pair of running shoes, an Optometrist will do the same about your contact lenses. Being able to see clearly whilst exercising is important from both a safely and performance aspect.
A lot of sports require good vision and so ensuring your vision is optimally corrected is essential. Even for sports such as road running where your vision may not seem as obviously important, the safely factor cannot be ignored. As an experienced and prominent veins surgeon I am often asked this question.
Genetics
There are several theories as to why varicose veins occur. The most common theory is that they are genetic – or ‘run in families’. This is because a lot of patients have seen their mothers, fathers or grandparents suffer with varicose veins and assume that they will get the same problem as well in due course. However this is not necessarily true. Because up to a third of the population will suffer with some sort of varicose vein problem eventually, It is more likely that there are factors other than the purely inherited traits at play. Suffering from a back injury is very frustrating for weight lifters. It can prevent you from training, and a prolonged period out of the gym will result in dreaded atrophy. However, a back injury doesn’t necessarily mean you need to abstain from weight training altogether. You can train around the injury and continue to progress in your workouts. Training around the injury will provide the stimulus to prevent muscle loss, one of the primary concerns for the injured bodybuilder.
Before offering exercise solutions for training around a back injury, I must advise you to immediately stop doing any exercise if you feel significant pain. Hip pain during pregnancy is a common occurrence that brings moderate to severe pain for expecting mothers. Pregnancy puts a woman’s body through a series of tremendous changes. These changes often cause pain, stress, and even emotional breakdowns.
